Application Process

Application Submission: The referring professional serves as an advocate for the individual in need of assistance (client). With the client’s help, the referring professional gathers the information required, completes the online application, and submits it on behalf of the client. 

Review and Decision: The A.V. Hunter Trust communicates with the referring professional as the application is being reviewed and when a funding decision is made. The referring professional is responsible for informing the client of the decision.

Completion of Services: If funding is awarded, the A.V. Hunter Trust will also notify the vendor or dentist of the grant award. The client and vendor/dentist work together to complete the work before the grant’s expiration date.

Payment: When the work has been completed, the vendor submits a request for payment to the A.V. Hunter Trust. Once the referring professional confirms that the equipment or dental services have been received by the client, payment is issued directly to the vendor.

Tips for a Successful Application

  • Consider downloading the application question list before completing the online application.
  • Providing clear, accurate, and complete information throughout the application may lead to a quicker decision. 
  • The Background section of the application is an opportunity to create a comprehensive picture of the client and how this grant award would help them improve their wellbeing or move forward on their path toward greater stability. You might include information about employment history, family relationships, military service, medical issues, hobbies and interests, community involvement, unexpected hardships, volunteer activities, etc.
  • ​If you wish, you may have your client write this narrative on their behalf and simply attach it to the Background section.
