Funding Overview - Grants to Organizations

The A.V. Hunter Trust awards general operating grants, which provide organizations with the flexibility to meet the specific needs of those they serve. We support qualifying 501(c)(3) Colorado nonprofit organizations that offer direct services to individuals living in Colorado. The current focus of the Trust is to help small organizations – with annual operating budgets of less than $1 million – in communities that are rural or underserved.

What is the process for applying for a grant?

Our goal is to help your organization save time in determining if you are eligible for funding. After reviewing the eligibility guidelines, organizations are invited to contact us at info@avhuntertrust.org or (303) 399-5450 with a brief description of their mission and work.

What type of grants are awarded?

The A.V. Hunter Trust is pleased to grant General Operating funds. Requests for program support, capital campaigns, endowments, event sponsorships, research projects, and publications are not considered.

Does A.V. Hunter Trust award multi-year grants?

Currently, the A.V. Hunter Trust does not award multi-year grants. After receiving first-time funding, grantees are invited to apply each year, as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and priorities of the Trust.

What organizations are eligible to apply?

What geographic areas are funded?

We fund organizations located within Colorado that provide services in the state. Smaller organizations located in rural Colorado are especially encouraged to apply. Requests from multi-state, national or international organizations are not considered.

What is the average grant award size?

First-year grants are up to $10,000. Subsequent grants are often in the $10,000 to $20,000 range but vary based on the size and scope of the organization.
