We offer funding to assist individuals with the purchase of durable medical equipment or specific dental procedures. Applications are accepted continuously and must be submitted by a referring professional. Funding is paid to the vendor or dentist.

Who can apply?

All applications must be completed and submitted by a referring professional, on behalf of the individual in need of assistance (client).

Who can serve as a referring professional?

Many individuals already work with a referring professional. People who may qualify include social workers, patient advocates, clergy, health aides, therapists, employers, etc. The referring professional cannot be a family member or friend of the individual in need of assistance, and cannot work for, or be affiliated with, the dentist or the vendor providing services or equipment.

What kind of assistance is available?

Funding may be available to assist with the purchase of a wide range of durable medical equipment, such as hearing aids, wheelchairs, standing frames, braces, prostheses, oxygen concentrators, and many more items. Minor modifications to homes or vehicles owned by the client (ramps, lifts, etc.) are also considered. In addition, four specific dental procedures are eligible: fillings, extractions, partial dentures, and full dentures.

How does the process work?

The individual in need of assistance identifies a referring professional willing to complete and submit the application on their behalf and answer any questions during the review process. If funding is awarded, the A.V. Hunter Trust will notify the referring professional and the vendor of the grant award. When the work has been completed, payment is issued directly to the vendor.

Who is eligible for assistance?

Funding may be available to assist legal residents of Colorado who lack the financial resources to obtain vital medical equipment or dental care. Click here to learn more about eligibility. Assistance is available once per client. If a client has already received assistance from the A.V. Hunter Trust, they are no longer eligible for consideration.

What does not qualify for funding?

The A.V. Hunter Trust cannot pay or reimburse for equipment or services ordered or provided before notification of a grant award for the client.

Assistance is only available one time. If an individual has already received assistance from the A.V. Hunter Trust, they are no longer eligible for consideration.

How long does it take to receive a funding decision?

The Grants to Assist Individuals program is not an emergency response program. Due to the volume of applications received, the screening process can take up to six weeks. Thorough and complete applications take less time to process.

Are funds distributed directly to individuals?

Funds are only distributed to the vendor or dentist for equipment or services received by the client. The Trust does not provide funds directly to individuals.

Can the client choose the vendor or provider?

Any vendor or provider may be selected if they are willing to accept payment after the equipment or services are received by the client. Therefore, online-only vendors are not an option. A cost estimate must be attached when the application is submitted.

How much funding is available?

The range of funding varies depending on the circumstances of the client. The average grant is $1,800 per client.
